Robert Sanchez has left Chelsea for Serie A side Como on a season‑long loan.

Sanchez began Chelsea’s 3‑2 win over Fulham in the Premier League opener but a slip at the near post allowed Josh King to score. The error, coupled with concerns over his form, prompted Xabi Alonso to sign Argentina international Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa for £7.5m. Martinez debuted in the 4‑3 victory over Brighton, immediately taking the starting role. Martinez debut

Having been omitted from the Brighton matchday squad, Sanchez’s loan was confirmed by Chelsea. The deal sends the 28‑year‑old to Como, who are overseen by former Chelsea and Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas. Como have secured an option to buy Sanchez at the end of the season. The club also completed the loan signing of Italy striker Moise Kean from Fiorentina, with an obligation to buy, as they prepare for the Champions League group phase after a fourth‑place Serie A finish.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, Sanchez made 112 appearances and collected a Conference League trophy and a Club World Cup medal. A loan with an option to purchase allows the receiving club to assess the player’s performance before a permanent deal is triggered, while the parent club retains the possibility of a future sale.
