Liverpool persist with Ismaila Sarr chase as transfer plans expand
Liverpool’s £50m bid for Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr was turned down, while manager Andoni Iraola eyes three signings before the deadline.

Liverpool have had an initial £50m offer for Ismaila Sarr rejected by Crystal Palace, yet the club’s pursuit remains active. The 28‑year‑old Senegal international, who primarily operates on the right wing, is viewed as a key target to fill the void left by Mohamed Salah’s summer exit.
Manager Andoni Iraola has indicated a desire to secure three new players before the transfer window closes, two of whom are expected to cover wide positions. One of those wide options is French winger Bradley Barcola, for whom Paris Saint‑Germain have accepted a £100m fee plus £20m in potential add‑ons. The add‑ons would be triggered if specific performance targets, such as appearances or goal contributions, are achieved.
Liverpool have already moved on from Yankuba Minteh after Brighton’s resistance, but reports suggest the club has not been discouraged from negotiating a deal for Sarr. Should the Anfield side complete its incoming targets, Dutch forward Cody Gakpo could still depart before the deadline, with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly maintaining strong interest under manager Roberto De Zerbi, despite the club’s already high summer spend.
When asked about Gakpo’s future, Iraola cautioned that “when the market is open, you cannot guarantee anything with anyone,” underscoring the fluid nature of the final days of the window. The ongoing interest in Sarr and the broader recruitment plan highlight Liverpool’s intent to reshape their attacking options ahead of the new season.
