Bradley Barcola will take the No 29 shirt at Anfield, the same number he selected during his spell at Paris Saint‑Germain after being inspired by Alex Hunter, the fictional striker from FIFA’s ‘The Journey’ mode.

The 23‑year‑old France international has signed a five‑year contract with Liverpool for an initial £106 million fee that could rise to £123 million. Although the vacant No 11 left by Mohamed Salah was available, Barcola opted to retain the 29 he wore at PSG. He arrives as a capped 28‑time French winger who featured off the bench in PSG’s back‑to‑back Champions League triumphs in 2025 and 2026.

“I had the chance to play twice in this stadium and I saw the atmosphere and how the fans were behind the Liverpool players,” Barcola said. He added that the prospect of joining a “very big club” required no questions. The player expressed a clear ambition to win the Premier League and to remain at Liverpool long term, underscoring the length of his contract as evidence of that intent.

Barcola’s arrival continues Liverpool’s recent heavy investment, following the signings of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz for more than £100 million each last summer. He joins fellow senior arrivals Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet, with the club still weighing the possibility of another winger as talks continue over Cody Gakpo’s future.
