Hamburg Near Deal for Arsenal Midfielder Fabio Vieira

Hamburg are in advanced talks to buy Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira in a €10 million (£8.6 million) deal. The German side have moved close to finalising the transfer as the summer window narrows.

Arsenal are actively seeking to offload the 26‑year‑old before Tuesday’s deadline, and there is a growing expectation among staff at the Emirates Stadium that an agreement with Hamburg will be reached.

Vieira spent the previous season on loan at Hamburg, featuring in 29 Bundesliga matches and finding the net seven times. The loan spell gave him regular first‑team action that he struggled to secure at the London club.

The Portuguese midfielder arrived at Arsenal from Porto in 2022 for a reported £34 million fee but never cemented a place in the side, making 47 appearances overall, only five of which were Premier League starts. He was sent back to Porto on loan during the 2024/25 campaign before joining Hamburg on loan the following year.

A loan arrangement typically allows a player to gain experience elsewhere while the parent club retains registration. Such deals may include options or obligations to purchase, giving the borrowing club the chance to secure the player permanently if the loan proves successful.
