Newcastle near £55m deal for Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo

Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo in a deal worth up to £55m.

The Magpies have been active in the final days of the summer window, having already completed seven signings this season and now seeking an additional attacker. Fernandez-Pardo was omitted from Lille’s squad for their recent 2‑2 draw with Paris Saint‑Germain and has been instructed to train away from the first‑team group until the transfer window closes on Tuesday, signalling that his Lille future has been effectively resolved.

The 21‑year‑old Belgian forward has been a long‑standing target for Newcastle, a pursuit that dates back to the Eddie Howe era.
